“Every founder deserves a successor who knows the trade. After five years running an environmental business in Belgium and the Netherlands, I want to be that successor, carrying their work forward with their team.”
Matthias Herrebosch
About Matthias
Matthias Herrebosch is searching for a founder-led company in environmental goods and services in the Benelux, which he will acquire and lead with the backing of WAD Capital. He brings senior commercial and general management experience from environmental testing and rail logistics. Most recently, as Managing Director Environment Benelux at Eurofins, he led five business units across Ghent, Barneveld and Amsterdam, covering soil and water testing, PFAS bio-monitoring, air monitoring and asbestos testing. Before that, he spent seven years at Lineas as Commercial Director and member of the leadership team, responsible for commercial strategy, sales, customer service and procurement across five countries, and served on the boards of Sea-Rail and the Zeebrugge port association APZI.
Vision
Matthias sees environmental services in Belgium and the Netherlands as a sector where tightening European rules on water, soilair and waste are turning testing and treatment from a choice into an obligation. Much of this demand is served by founder-led specialists with deep technical expertise and loyal clients, well placed to benefit from added commercial reach and digital tools. His vision is to lead one of these companies and grow it into a Belgian–Dutch specialist that keeps the speed and credibility of a local business while gaining the scale to serve larger clients. Throughout, the aim is to build on what the founder created.
Mission
He is looking to acquire and lead a profitable, privately owned environmental services company in Belgium or the Netherlands. His search starts with wastewater and with soil and groundwater, with air and climate as a natural extension, where regulation creates steady demand for specialist expertise. Once the company is his to lead, he will focus on moving work towards recurring service and monitoring relationships, strengthening commercial reach, and digitising field data and reporting.
Impact
Across rail logistics and environmental testing, Matthias's results show a consistent pattern: sustained commercial growth, stronger profitability and carefully executed acquisitions. The Eurofins business he led grew substantially, became markedly more profitable and completed two acquisitions within four years, while the commercial organisation at Lineas delivered growth over several consecutive years. He now aims to bring the same commercial focus and acquisition discipline to a Belgian–Dutch environmental platform, where recurring client relationships and specialist expertise build on each other over time.
